New Jersey Motorsports Park Announces "The Building Trades 150" Race

8/31/2009

Millville’s New Jersey Motorsports Parkannounced Friday a partnership with 22 South Jersey building and construction trade associations in which an upcoming 150-mile racing event at the 500-acre park will be named the South Jersey Building Trades 150.
The relationship between the trade associations and the motorsports park, which opened July 2008, dates back several years, said Will Pauls, president of the South Jersey Building and Construction Trades Council AFL-CIO. “We, as a group, worked hard to help get the park approved. We went to a lot of meetings with the planning boards, and worked closely through the development to help get government involved at the state and local levels,” he said. “In turn, when the place was being built, they put our members to work.”
In addition to having entitlement to the ARCA RE/MAX Series event, which will take place Sept. 11 to 13, members of each of the 22 building trades will have an opportunity to take parade laps around the 2.25-mile Thunderbolt Raceway at the end of the racing activities, in addition to other benefits, according to New Jersey Motorsports Park.
The park, meanwhile, will be able to tap into the vast member base of the building trades council, said Reece White, spokesman for the park. “One of the things we get is exposure to the trades, to the individual members who are local, who are ticket buyers, who are fans of the sport,” he said. “It gives us some credibility with them.”
